Insights

We are excited to share our latest Industrial Services Report, which underscores the remarkable strength of the industrial sector and the continued interest it is generating among investors.

Our industrial sector index has outperformed the S&P 500 over the past 3 years and continues to maintain strong valuations. Investors seek industrial firms focusing on mission-critical maintenance and recurring revenues.  These companies are considered less risky and command higher valuations.

Despite recession predictions, middle market transactions closed in Q1 2023 remained consistent with the previous three quarters. Purchase price multiples have stayed stable despite increased capital costs.

Debt is still available for middle market deals albeit pricier. Senior debt is 8.1% (Q1 2023) versus 6.7% (Q4 2022). Subordinated debt rose to 16.8% from 14.0%. This has motivated investors to increase equity contributions to 59.7% from 56% last year allowing for a continued competitive deal environment.
